Swimsuit Season Shopping
By: Triana
Swimsuit season is fast approaching here in the Midwest. With so many choices it’s hard to decide what suit to buy for those surprise pool parties with friends or long summer vacations. Before you go swimsuit shopping, do a little research or use your past knowledge on what suit to buy. You may even want to go into stores so you can try them on instead of buying online. There are a few factors to keep in mind while searching for a swim suit including price, fit, material, style, and use. Bikinis can be fun but might start to slip if you do a lot of running and jumping, one pieces are an option, as well as highwaisted, bandeaus, prints, cut outs, and the like. I have tons of options in store for all of the different types out there.
Basic
If you want to keep this swimsuit for a long time, I would go with black, it matches everything and the fabric tends to keep its color longer. Try a triangle top and plain bottoms or a one piece with cut out sides. If you want to mix it up even more, try adding printed bottoms to a black top or vice versa.
Prints
There are tons of printed suits out there this year. I’ve especially been seeing a lot of pineapples and tropical prints. There are also the usual polka dotted and striped patterned as well. Just remember that if there is any white in your print has a lot of other colors, the white tends to turn more yellow after wash and wear. It shouldn’t be a problem if you hand wash it, but just be careful.
Bandeaus
Bandeaus are personally my favorite type of top and I find them very fun to wear. They’re great for sunbathing because if you do tan, you won’t get any terrible tan lines! This year they’ve come out with a few more styles of bandeaus as well. They have ones with or without wire lining and also longer bandeaus that follow down your sides more.
Fringe
Lately I’ve been seeing a lot of bathing suits with fringe, my sister even has one. They come in all sorts of colors and I find them very interesting. If you want something a little different this definitely has it.
High Waisted
The 50’s are back! Celebrities like Taylor Swift are spotted wearing this trend and it looks absolutely classy. You can pair it with any kind of top too. If you want more versatile coverage, high waisted bottoms are perfect. They come in all sorts of colors so don’t worry about not being able to match the top and bottom perfectly.
One Pieces
One pieces are getting even more fun as the years go by! I used to just think they were for moms who wanted to be boring but now they have them everywhere with cute graphics and cut outs. I might even want one finally! The most common cut out is a lower back, or no sides. Lately I’ve found some really cute ones at Forever 21, and they’re not too expensive either.
Tankinis
Basically a bikini with with a tank top. They cover your upper half more and can be super fun. When I wear tankinis I love to get a nice print because it makes them even cuter. Some have trim on the bottom that’s extra adorable as well.
No matter what type of bathing suit you decide on, make sure YOU like it. You don’t have to please anyone else but yourself. You are beautiful, strong, and confident. Rock that swim suit girl. ♥
